Governor Jay Inslee has proclaimed October 21-25 as School Bus Safety Week with the theme My School Bus, the Safest Form of Student Transportation. School Bus Safety Week was established in 1966 by the National Association for Pupil Transportation, the National Association for State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services, and the National School Transportation Association to call attention to school bus safety and promote school bus transportation.
Washington state is known nationwide for its outstanding pupil transportation program and almost half of Washington’s public school students ride school buses to and from school every day. Each school day in Washington state, more than almost 11,000 school buses provide more than 825,000 student trips between home and school.
Drivers complete initial and annual training in order to provide the highest standard of care for the student they transport. The Commercial Vehicle Division of the Washington State Patrol school bus inspection program ensures the safety of school buses.
Crescent would like to thank all of our school bus and van drivers for their conscientious and caring transporting of our most precious cargo – our students. Please join us in thanking Mark Adolphsen, Chuck Fuchser, Mike Hazelett, Carol Kitchens (sub), Ed McKay, Cara Ottele, Randy Rooney, and Kim Walker (sub).
