School Levies Passed by Voters; District Says Thank You

We wish to thank community members for their support. We feel this support is a direct result of the work done on behalf of our students in the area of academic growth, student care, facilities, transportation, business operations, central office service and co-curricular activities.

The board has done some great work over the past few years and the strategic plan they developed in cooperation with community and staff provides us great direction that directly supported the passage of these levies. Our community supports the concept of a community school and they want us to thrive.

Steve Singhose was the Chairman of our “Yes” committee and he and Elizabeth Hogan put in many hours promoting our levies to ensure passage. There were more than 30 people that worked directly with Steve and the “Citizen for Crescent Kids” committee. One exciting thing for me was that we have a number of people that have been strong supporters of our school and they showed through their involvement with the levy that they still are, but we also added a few new members who contributed also. This helps to assure future success.

What Now:

In the short term this funding enables us to continue the programs and services we have and maybe expand some too. Levy support and expanded enrollment are a great recipe for the financial stability of the district.  We are already in contract with engineers and architects to develop bid specs for kitchen, cafeteria and band room renovations. It will be a tight timeline, but I hope that we can award that project for completion this summer.

We will also work on estimates for the gym, generators and some other projects that we plan to complete over the next four years.
