We are excited to announce that Crescent School District has taken delivery of a brand-new school bus! This significant investment ensures the safety and reliability of transportation for our students.
In Washington, the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) provides funding for school buses through a process called "depreciation." The district responsibly manages these funds in the Transportation Vehicle Fund to replace buses as they reach the end of their depreciation cycle.
The new bus, which cost approximately $178,000, was fully funded through depreciation funds, with no need to dip into levy dollars or other funding sources. This state-of-the-art bus is equipped with advanced safety features, including interior cameras to monitor student activity and external cameras that capture traffic violations, such as cars disregarding the red stop lights and stop paddles. It is also designed with storage capacity to better support field trips and athletic travel, ensuring convenience and functionality for our students and staff.
Additionally, this bus is outfitted with automatic chains, a crucial feature for navigating winter weather. With its arrival, all buses operating on our three main routes now include this important safety enhancement.
Crescent School District remains committed to maintaining a safe and reliable bus fleet for our students, ensuring their well-being during every journey.
Thank you for supporting our mission to provide safe and effective transportation for our community!
